Well recently i've noticed I'm not very confident when turning into corners and what not.

The vee seems to be sliding across the road.

The tyres still have loads of tread on them. When I first bought the car there seemed loads of grip but now I can feel the car sliding around corners and occasionally I feel like I may loose it at fairly low speeds. I'm not pushing the car really at all.

What's going on?

The only thing I can think i've done recently is used some meguiars tyre gel to blacken/shine them up but this is on the wall of the tyre and not all around it and in the tread.

The roads aren't even that wet.

Any ideas?

can any one tell me what front and rear track and chamber specs are pls as my car seems a bit skitish at speed so would like to check my settings. cheers tim

I last blew up my tyres about 1 week ago and I set the front's to 29 and rears to 31psi.

I'm fairly certain those are the wrong pressures for a Mk1 ... look like Mk2 pressures to me!! There's a big difference front to rear on a Mk1, but only a small difference (0.1 bar) on a Mk2.

Mk2 is also 23 psi at the front. I thought that was low but went with it.
Martin ... that's the wrong front pressure for a Mk2!! Front is 2.0 bar = 29 psi. Back is 2.1 bar = 31 psi. In fact (now I've quickly done the conversions) exactly the pressures that Chris did his to.

Thanks Andy,

I stand corrected, these figures came from the reference book my tyre man used and, come to think of it, were confirmed by a Mk1 owner. I

They did seem a little low to me actually.
