Handbrake not working

I've recently changed the rear pads, and the handbrake doesn't fully lock the back wheels when applied. Normal braking is fine they have bedded in. Does the handbrake need ajusting?

When you fitted the pads did yuo screw the caliper piston back to the pads so the pads were really close to the disc?

Did you ensure calipers were free to move ?

Did you undo any of the handrake linkage? (there is no reason to do so) Just fitting pads shouldnt upset the handbrake adjustment otherwise.

Nope - didn't touch the handbrake linkage, just wound the piston back until the new pads fitted in?

I did undo the bleed valve before winding back - as suggested.

Sounds as if you may have air in the cylindres then.

Try bleeding the back brakes.
