Hand Brake lever

Hi anybody every changed the hand brake lever? Mine has some marks on it, ive got a used one from a 182 clio on the way (so it will have a metal colour button now). Ive removed the centre console and can now get to the 10mm nuts to remove the lever assembly. Im thinking I need to slacken off the adjustment but don't know where it is with out checking.

Just wondered if anybody has any helpful words before it get involved in the job?

The link talks about removing the centre console... ive done that with no problems. I think I need to get under the car and release the cables but want to see if anybody else has done the job before i get too involved.
