Group Buy Carbon Fibre Engine Covers

Really sorry I haven't been on top of this guys and gals. Have been offline for ages. Ill give carbondelight a call as they have done a craking job on Simons.

It's the weight i'm trying to save, that and the fact that I don't want fibreglass pieces flying around everytime I "tinker" with the engine....

After a phone call to Phill today, it turns out he is very interested in doing the Carbon covers everyone seems to want. I gave him a rough figure of how many we might need and he said it will be fine. Being the honest guy he is, he also said that due to the size of the company, it would not be an order that will take a few days from start and finish. They are big items and to get the quality of Simons (Bill Patchall), time will be needed which is fair enough in my opinion. Nothing wrong with honesty.

Regarding costs, he said that with the numbers our poll was suggesting, a discount of around 10% could be acheivable. Could be more, could be less. Until a fairly firm number is put forward only then can he give us a definate figure on discount and price which again is fair enough. Also, due to the "Show season" being not too far off ending, he reckons that this GB could go very well as the turn around at this time of year will be better than ever, and I'm sure all you vee owners would like them changed over winter ready for next spring.

Will those that are SERIOUSLY interested in them, please make yourselves known.

Thanks

Brett

who will be doing the carbon might want to talk to them after a bespoke carbon plenum with perspex lid so i can see all the goodies that will be going in it

As above, i hate it when peopel say "I'm in" then pull out when they see a cost! Lets have a look at the cost *Rough* and go from there.

As Matt said^^^^^ less than £750^^^^^^
Think Renault want over £350 + VAT for 1 side panel [smilie=icon_eek.gif] [smilie=icon_eek.gif]
Yes, I've wanted a set of these after seeing Simons nearly got some but then the group buy came up, so if we/I can get 10% off all the better ;)

If they can be sourced for the price above then I'd be interested in this.

Would the idea be to exactly match Bill's covers i.e. perspex covers showing the engine off. If so would these have to be sourced elsewhere?

I think matching transmission tunnels and dashboard/steeringwheel inserts are a must if you do this...And then it's just getting silly money...You'd have to really want it!

I was thinking more along the lines of matching fog light surrounds and - if you're really committed - matching wing mirror and pods, although I'd think that'd be a bit OTT, not to mention £££££'s.

Don't think covers alone would look too bad. Depends on the colour of the Vee I spose though. Silver and black go well. Which is lucky for me :)

The carbon parts don't cost as much as you'd think! inserts for the dash are around 40 quid. Linkage tunnel, not so sure, you'dhave to ask russo.

The problem with carbon in the cabin is that it's all shiny and black, where as the surronding dash is matt and grey. It would look a bit weird I think.

Would look great if the cabin area was flocked/alcantara though...
