Hi !

Joseph here, born in Bedford, raised mostly and living in France.

New to the board, I'm kinda getting back into Clio V6, I was mad about the idea of owning/driving one back when the Ph2 was in production but of course being young and pennyless kinda stopped those ideas :)

A few years down the line and a kind of decent income makes me want to jump in and buy my Ph2.

I'm in France, by the way, so you're probably wondering why the hell I'm looking at RHD Vees... I've been looking at the ads on PistonHeads and on here, and, I've seen lots of debates about prices, not selling too low, etc.

Here are a few examples of whats available in France... I frankly don't know whether to "laugh" or cry when I see the price tags...

(there's a joke in there :) )

Anyways... the f***ing prices for second hand cars over here is just bollocks, seriously... I mean, lets not forget that the price in france for a new one was 39 000 euros... so seeing a nearly 10 year old car, granted low mileage, for 28K€ - 36K€ just makes me piss myself, however nice and clean they look...

Hence the much more affordable prices in UK that are seriously making me obsessional about buying one this year... :race:

RHD is not so much a problem for me, I currently use this quite a bit :

1000cc bike engine in a 1973 bond bug... 160 HP for 395 kilos... [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

And I'm also rebuiling a Reliant Robin Mk1 SuperVan that going to be my Daily. I love these tripods, they are to me the perfect equation for old school motoring in modern day roads and traffic : light, performant (40 BHP/395 kilos in standard form), reliable, spares are readily available and being fiberglass, no rust to worry about. anyways, enough about my yoghurt pots :violin:

Problem with the Bond Bug is that it is in no way street legal, and as much as the performance and looks are awesomely insane (0-60 in 3,7 sec, 125 MPH estimate, tested successfully to 195 until I run out of road), it is, neither comfortable/driveable long distance/and hardly safe, with no doors or such. So I'd definitely be interested in a Clio V6 for performance and GT comfort, not to mention the cult status it has/will have as it is the last real adventurous Renault Sport vehicle.

This example definitely seems to tick all my boxes :

Just landed a bit too early for my cash to be high enough, but damn you have respectable rides at decent prices over your way.

looks like I can't edit my posts ?

Anyway, typo was of course to mix MPH and KMH :)

:welcome: im sure you will be able to find a nice vee over here on budget, will be a great drive home!

The bond bug is fanastic! never seen one of them before. :race:

there are a number of RHD v6s in france now, some of the ones up for sale over there have some dodgy history from when they were back here so if you go for one of them, please do ask and do your homework on here first!! :approve:

Hi

Thanks for the welcome

I'll be coming over to UK to buy one eventually, not France. Theres a yellow RHD for sale at the mo but the engine cradle needs replacing so... :)

Hi and welcome! Bond bug is a crazy thing with that engine fitted lol!

Good luck with your v6 search, get yourself signed up to avoid buying a dog :)

that one is exactly what i meant by dubious history!! It used to be a silver one, but was written off, repaired and then resprayed yellow!

Oh, wow...

Well, thats always something I've asked myself.

If you can buy a written off vehicle in one country and repair it and re register in another country ?

Anyways, as you say, the UK ones are known to most on here, so I'm sure I'll be able to find a clean one, and besides HPI doesn't exist in France (or at least, I'm not sure privates have access like you can in UK) so anything pretty much can happen to a car you wouldn't know it.

Just need to get my piggy bank just a bit fuller. :)

For the time being I'll spend 5 quid joining the club that should be a good start [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]
