Got smoked by Ford Mondeo 1,8

Got TOTALY really TOTALY smoked by a Ford Mondeo yesterday (115 bhp) in my R19 valver, dont quite get it... anny idears for some engine faults? 2 rich mixture, it runs poor at 2500 rpm (juddering? rusty english sorry) when cruising, seems to run better cold (might just be me thinking that)
anny idears?!

i drive mondeo's nearly everyday (ford mechanic) and you are right to question why it beat you! has your car been serviced recently? High mileage? Unless the mondeo had been chipped or cammed then i would personally say the 19 should have been faster?? Was it the new shape mondeo?

could well have been modded, i had a 1.8 mondy, and a valver should beat it, even if its not running quite right!

no service recently, 176000 km (dont think that is much), the mondeo was BOG STANDARD... old old model.... A Mitsu Lancer 1,6 smoked me to (also 115 bhp).. gonna sell soon if i dont find the fault!!! :? :cry: because thats just FUCKING imberrasing, it really "Grind my gears" got 17 inch wheels on, but the mondeo did 2, and he didnt just win by an inch, he won by OVER a car lenght.. :cry:

Firstly the car hasn't been serv iced and secondly youve got big wheels on it so it wont pick up as fast.Get it serviced

well it needs a new coolant temp sensor, change that and it will drive better and have more power

if it was me i would

clean iscv, TB, air filter (if OEM clean box, pipe work) new leads new spark plugs, oil, rocker cover gasket, coolant, cts, check throttle cable (slopy, adjusted to the max is just a no no) run through some injector cleaner, run on 97+ RON (just burns better) GOOD START LOW COST!!

i wonder if some bum has moved the idle screw? or playd with the TPS??

you say grinding gears? box fecked? whats the code on the tag if there is one? :?

are the mounts on engine/gearbox ok?? 15'' wheels back on

what else has been fucked with/modded?? as i no there are fook all valvers over there...

we talking ph1/ph2 hatch/chammy??

^^ BB if your gonna say all the abbreviations man, people might not know what your talking about so if you can please put Coolant Temp Sensor (CTS) or Throttle Screw (TPS) coz some people won't know what the fuck your talking about when your throwing out random three letter capital words! Ha.

Since I put BB engine in my car has been great before I had teething problems, I was up the back side of a ford escort gti on the way to tescos. shame he didnt take the dual way I still had more power to drop him.
