gears whining clio v6 230

1st 2nd 5th and 6th gears make a whining noise but not 3rd and 4th any ideas anyone thanks if gearbox needs replacing is there any other renault that as the same gearbox

mine does it in 2nd and 3rd i think. only hear it when driving slowly. the bloke i bought it off said that all vees do it, wether he was down downjust trying to sell it or it is a thing on them all i dont know. i just put it down to the engine being so close to your head and your gonna hear a lot of engine noises.

they are weak boxes mate...may have had the wrong oil put in??

so do most of them do it or is it a sign of impending disaster! im not very teccie but is it easy to empty and change for new oil?

I think most of them do it, mine especially in second 1.5-2.5k rpm, 6th whines as well but it changes gears no probs.

main thing is use the proper oil, 2.2 litres for Mk1's which I think Clarkiev6 can get cheaper than from the dealers and is made specially for this gearbox - I know cos I tried shell, then silkolene before switching to the renault approved Elf gearbox oil and it made my car feel like it had a new gearbox.

the ph1 vee box is shit!!...ive gone through 2 now......if funds allow upgrade to the ph2 item, better ratios to :approve:

2 gearboxes on a low miles fsh mk1??? ^^^ Aint no TT clio your in now ffs, what are you doing with it? Or have you tried fixing them yourself?

LOL iain.....i seriously think thats the problem mate, im so used to flat shiffting with the dog box on the clio TT i carnt get used to the vee!!....ive got with a ph2 box nowadays and this is hoolding up......( after a change of driving style)
