Fuel spewing up back out of carb!!!

Got my spark side of things sorted,now the carbs playing up again lol.I just rebuilt it a few months back,new diaphgrams the lot.Engine is just chuffing every couple of turns,and when it chuffs the fuel is just spewing out everywhere out the top of the carb!All jets are clear,float height is correct,new float needle valve is fine,seated properly etc.All passageways cleared with compressed air.I turned the car over with the air duct off and there's a lot of fuel spilling out the base of that thing brass thing that has the screw head on it(pump deliver valve/jet?) and has the little silver tap part on it which has to be placed in a slot before tightening,it sits in the middle of both venturis.I put new copper washers on this,made sure it's tight but fuel just seems to come out everywhere at this thing?Here's a link to the part im talking about,numbers 81 and 82 .

I had this problem. I know you say the float and needle valve are working properly but in my case this was the problem. Double check that the float is adjusted correctly. Fuel spewing out of the top of the carb can only be caused by an incorrectly working float valve that does not shut off the fuel supply when the float chamber is full.

I would even suggest putting the old needle valve back and testing again.

Apart from setting the float level (8mm?) i blew through the fuel supply pipe and raised the float to see if it cut off what would be the fuel supply,and it does.I'll throw the old float needle valve back in and see what happens.I can't believe i'm getting so much grief when i used such an extensive carb rebuild kit.
 
Stuck the old float needle valve back in,the fuel isn't spewing out now but it still won't fire.Pulled the plugs and they're weren't soaked like i thought they'd be?Im pretty sure all this fuel that was under the carb has just overloaded/clogged something and it wont start!
 
Yes, this is a problem that I have encountered. Neat fuel collects in the bowl underneath the carb. It will just sit there and the vacuum from the engine is not sufficient to atomise or pull it through.

Frustrating, but the only real solution (in my experience) is to remove the carb and mop out the liquid fuel using a piece of rag. If you're careful you can remove the carb without disconnecting much - just enough to get in there and mop the fuel. I've had to do the job more than once, particularly when first trying to get my engine to run during the restoration of the car.

Has anyone else had this experience?

P.s. I suggested the float because I had exactly this problem once. Brand new float valve looked like it should have worked but it just didn't - I had to reuse the old one!
 
I mopped up all the fuel under the carb,there's was quite a lot.I even tried a little engine start spray but it just wouldn't fire.Maybe it's just needing to clear itself of all that extra fuel,dunno?Just an update,i 'thought' the fuel spewing out had stopped but it's built up and coming back out again,took a while though!
 
Aargh! I would still think that the float valve is the problem. Maybe the float is holed, and no longer floats?

You may also find a lot of fuel the other side of the turbo too - remove the intake pipe and check there. Might be worth blowing through if you can find a way to do it.

These non-starting issues can be a pain (but very satisfying) to sort out. Good luck!

Try swapping your leads around, your car istrying to ignite, on it's exhaust stroke, and exhausting the inlet.

Number 1 needs swapping with number 4, then sort the other 2 leads accordingly. When you are turning it over as it is, keep an eye on the servo brake hose that runs to the carb base. Look out for a bulge in the pipe as you crank it
