Fuel pump relay

Williams

New Member
Does anyone local to me have one of these I could try please, to try and eliminate it from the list of suspects.

The car died on me on the M40 last night, on our way back from Prescott. When turning the ignition on, usually its possible to hear the fuel pump priming. Now it is not. First suspect must be the relay, surely?

Any other thoughts from you guys?

Really need to get this fixed asap, as need to get the car MOT'd this week, and ready for FCS at the weekend. Any help would be great appreciated!

Thanks, Shaun :salut:

Hi Steve! Cheers fella..

Turned out no to be the relay! Instead a rather singed wire that was earthing across the manifold!!

Glad you found the problem Shaun :approve:

Cheers Mossy!

Thanks to all those that were able to help! Patchall, K1ano, James, Mossy, my Peugeot m8 Graeme and last but certainly not least.. Scott @ SGM and his father, for taking the car in at such short notice and getting stuck in to it straight away!

Cheers guys!! [smilie=thanks.gif]

PS.

Looking for a lift to Scott's on Friday eve, if by chance, anyone was going there!

Does this mean we will see you at FCS Shaun?

Hope so mate!!

The car is currently at Scott's getting that wiring tidied up. The only other 'unknown' will be the MOT that he's putting it through for me.. so still planning on being at FCS.. keep ya fingers cross for the MOT! [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I could always bring the 172 if the car fails on something that isnt a straight forward and easy fix. Clearly not ideal though, as the 172 has a slight fuel issue still!

Dont you just love an old Renault..?

Hahaha Don't talk to me about crappy ol' reno's!!! They are nothing short of a kick in the frazzles for me! . . . . .

Glad the car is sorted fella. :approve:

Driving along in my old mini at night, dash lights and headlights went out all of a sudden and I was left driving completely blind with a smell of burning electrics ... managed to stop and find a dodgy wire like Shauns and fixed it and on my way ... mind you those old minis have about 10 wires max so not too difficult sort out ... good old mechanical points and distributor too

You remember all that Brett I bet :approve:
