Fuel Filter Changed

thunderstarter

New Member
I bought a new fuel filter last Nov when I serviced the car, but at the time didnt want to attempt changing it due to difficult access. So whilst I had the seats out at the weekend, fitting my new Recaro Pole Positions, I thought id have a go at doing it.... thanks to Steve for his photos in the forum archive for the rough guide. It may be worth making that a How to Guide. It looks like a complete mare of a job, but with the seats out of the way, it literally took me half an hour and was very easy.

I was shocked at the crap that came out of the old filter, check this out...

Also anyone attempting this job, be aware that the access panel, once you get it off, has these litle tabs where the screws go into. 2 of these dropped down in the engine bay as I took the panel off, and I was about to drive to Halfrauds for some more, but fortunately I looked uner the car and they had both landed on the undertray. You might not be so lucky!

This looks like the whole of the inside of the car is wrecked, but trust me, I had the filter on, panel back in, soundproofing reglued with spray mount and the carpet back down in around 30 mins

I also forgot to mention, You might notice the carpet is folded up behind the access panel... I did the whole job without removing the speakers, and carefully folded the carpet up so it didnt tear.

It's also a 30 min job when you don't take out the seats. :approve: but indeed more easy when they are not in place [smilie=yay.gif]

great work mate!

so you dont have to remove the full engine covers? or is the access panel underneath these?

Yeah all the top engine covers are all in place, all I did was (obviously already had the seats out, which you can see) I took the luggage net out, unscrewed the 4 hooks that hold it in place (2 either side) loosened the ridgid trim under the seat belts either side (which James mentions above), then carefully pulled the carpet up either side of the transmission tunnel and folded it over the top of the engine cover and held it down with something weighty so it didnt spring back.

Simples
