Front Tyres

My Tyres on the front are nearly due for replacment, on the rear it's got "kumho-Ecsta spt" fitted which look like there new.

Has anyone else run these?

I have always had front and rears matching as i think it makes the car more settled on the road.

But i've had a good offer on some Nankang's for the front but don't want Mix and Match on the car. Are these ok? I know there Yoko's second brand.

Z front & rear.

I've got Marshalls on the rear which are too cheap and you can feel the sidewall flex under hard cornering.

Continental SportContact 2 on the front which are excellent.

I have ZR fitted, but a tyre dealer wants the rating from the tyre as well before he'll give me a quote.

I think mine are 97W, can't remember at mo but i think thats what they are.

Anyone know what the correct rating is????

Only have a rear tyre at home from a MK1

Michelin Pilot Sport 235/45 ZR 17

Radial X

Treadwear 220 Traction AA Temerature A

DOR F3 4C HXE X 4400

Thats all the details from it.

The MK 1 handbook just says.

Front 205/50 ZR 17

Rear 235/45 ZR 17

Just been looking on the French site V6passion and I see that Michelin have launched the Pilot Sport Cup tyre in 17 & 18 sizes that will fit phase 1 & 2.
Semi slick tyre for track day and road use, aimed at the fast road & track day user so wonder if it will become available here?

i can get you kumho track/road tyres...i use them on my hillclimb car....stick like s-it to a blanket...lol

Pfft, you'd be lonely without me!

Being totally serious though, surely a "proper" fast car deserves the best tyres? Nankang are from Taiwan and nothing to do with Yokos (apart from nicking the tread pattern from the AVS). Yokohama are Yokohama's second brand with the top flight stuff being branded "Advan", incidently the Nankang logo is suspiciously similar to that in design!

The BFGoodrich GForce profilers are very good value for a top flight road tyre.

I have latest Toyo Proxes on the wifes Saab 9-3 Cab turbo. And i would never buy them ever again!!!

Had them on my E30 M3 as well, these tyres did not fill me with confidence, fast road or track.

You can't beat soft and sticky :lol:
