Thanks James, the bolts on that sheet are to joint the 2 halves of the caliper.
I contacted my local renault parts and they told me they are unable to get the hex bolts. i would need to order a new calliper
Looking at the how to guide you linked, there is a mistake in referance to fitting the new pads. it says that the pads are a tight fit and to trim some matirial away from the new pad. this is wrong, the fault is that under the shims there is alloy corosion making them sit up. I have taken my shims out, run a file and wire brushed them and i hope things will be as new.
as for the bolts im after, i think i will be able to sorce some from the internet. after all is sorted i will be happy to update a how to guide with any extra info.
I have just orderd some screws/bolts off the internet. Stainless steel, pack of 100 £3.50 ish and £4.00 delivery. I will have pleanty of spares but they dont do smaller packs and other places charge the same money for a pack of 20.
£7.50 is nothing and I will always have spares. might come in handy on other bits. And to be honest I was unsure of such a place in my local area that would have them.
Still better than getting a new caliper off renault. [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]
I have got some of these left price is in my original post think it was a fiver, as for the corrosion its unreal how much it affects the pad fitment and brake feel, as for grinding down the pads.........i wonder what the insurance would say if that caused an accident?
Yes it does not take much corrotion and the brakes must be held onto the disc, my car never felt like the brakes were sticking when spinning the wheels by hand, but the pads needed tapping out of the caliper.
