Forum Address Change & Intro Homepage?

Michael

Member
Andrew, maybe it's now time to put this forum on a more suitable website address as you have previously suggested? We could also have an initial homepage (like the Yahoo! one) that tells all visitors exactly what cars this forum is about. I can quite understand why the new member posted a GT Turbo technical question on here: at first glance there's nothing to tell him what cars this forum is really about other than the little photo in the top left corner (and we've all seen front-engined lookalike R5 Turbos!). Indeed the r5gordini part of the http address must add to the confusion. Does anyone agree?

OK - I'll look into it.

Suggestions all on domain names?

Should it be dot com or dot org? or dot info or something else?

I'll see what's available.

Andrew

If all the good "dot com" addresses have been snapped up, how about "r5turbo dot org" or "r5turbo dot info"? I don't know if you can have "&" in an address but "r5turbo1&2 dot something" would also be good. If preferred you could change the initial "r" to "renault" of course. As for the homepage, just a brief car description and a nice photo or two should be adequate, or if we don't want a separate page, a brief car description at the top of the forum page would probably do. I am sure we are all happy to leave the final decision up to you.

Right! I've created a new address for the forum and an introductory homepage.

I decided to use the WIki as the introductory homepage. It's here:

http://r5turbo.info

You can use www if you want, but it's not essential.

What would be good would be if others could work to refine the wiki, its contents and the homepage...

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks!

Andrew
