Fastchip Tuner Kits

Some of you may be aware of http://www.fastchip.nl/ who sell equipment that adjusts your ECU to suit various mods you've done. I spoke to Henk today and he is willing to look into providing similar for Vees should more than a few people become interested.

Just thought I would pass this on to v6 owners.

Contact Fastchip for any technical questions you may have.

Name: Henk Dijkstra
Email: [email protected]

Very interesting indeed ... Opens up the OBDII capabilities putting them in the hands of the owner - for those that dare though [smilie=badpc.gif]

Very interested indeed! I'm looking for an ECU remap but I really don't know who to go with!! (especially considering I'm based in London)

I was interested by this way of self tuning the Vee. So I asked Henk by mail if it was possible to use it on the Vee.
I only got a " unfortunately not" answer.
So maybe we should all ask him if it's possible and maybe he'll give in and develop one for the Vee !
I'll give him a ring and find out what the problem is...

I'd be dubious of this kit, or any self map kit...Bear in mind you can buy kits on ebay for 15£ to alter the mappin of your car...if you don't know what ur doing it's a Bad idea...

Not sayin henk doesn't know his stuff...I'm just pesemistic!

Agree in principle with some of that but to clarify from my point of view ...

I think it goes without saying that if you adjust the fueling or ignition map of an ECU using ANY device, without knowing what you are doing, you are in potential deep water. It's the same for increasing boost on a turbo car etc. The above kit seemed to provide an excellent user interface and set of tools to make the process eaiser for anyone wishing to take on the responsibility and hopefully who knows what they are doing ...

To coin a phrase ...

"Tools do not a craftsman make"

Motec......

Yes i know Martin its expensive :D

Pics of her naked will be sorted b4 too long, cars back in a few weeks at which stage it will be done...

Tim

I agree Tim, Motec is very a very good tool and good mappers are highly sought after so in that scenario a case of "good tool, good craftsmen". I know of some Motec mappers being flown around the world to map cars ... Now that IS expensive [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

And then there are the Motec horror stories due to poor mapping from tuning companies ... Owners having spent shed-loads on the Motec assuming the job would be top-notch but then being let down by poor mapping skills ... So even Motec is only as good as the person who maps it ...

Look forward to seeing pics then Tim and bet you can't wait to get the Vee back :-)

Is it a good idea to have these done by just flash programming rather then the tuner do it in controlled conditions?

I also spoke to Henk a couple of months ago and he said the v6 ECU was really not a market he would be able to invest time in. Dissappointing really, as I have some serious flat spots in the middle of the powerband at part throttle and the dealer says all is fine on their scanner. The only suspect remains the Superchip tune currently on the car not being compatible with the FOX exhaust. I would gladly buy Henk's kit if it worked on the v6. Otherwise I will try to remove the Superchips tune and going back to stock in the hope of removing those flat spots.

Did you have the Superchips done before fitting the exhaust?

I bought the car with the exhaust and Superchip already done. Previous owner didn't notice the flatspots, so his input was not useful. If reflashing doesn't solve the problem then I will begin looking into the drive-by-wire setup (pedal+throttle body) as the flat spots are worst at around 20-30% pedal position.

Well Superchips will be a waste of time then.....

Increase the ignition and try and alter the fuelling, 10 bhp and naff all torque...

and that will be £400 or so please!!!!!

Fair Play Tim

I take it Tim has tried the superchips on the 230? It seems to be running lean on my car, with some points being so lean that the car almost bogs. Any feedback on the superchips would be appreciated. I do like the higher rev limiter of almost 7600rpm though (for the screaming exhaust if nothing else)...

To be honest though, the power considerably drops after the 7250rpm power peak.

I guess if it's for engine noise though then fair enough! :)

Mines going to Paul, I found that after a 5 minute phone call to him he seems to know what he is talking about.

Not sure when I will get it to him though

Just a quick note to let you guys know that Henk's kit now supports the phase 2 v6:

CLIO 2 V6 Phase 2 L7X 762 3.0 Engine
CB1H,CB1U,CB2S,C61U

More details on fastchip.nl

Great to see Henk supporting the v6 with this addition, but I needed it for my phase 1 C61A v6 though! Hopefully sooner rather than later...

I echo the comments on Paul from RSTuning. He did our Ecu remap group buy some time ago and everyone was pleased with the results. 8) However please remember the map he has off the shelf was designed specifically for a std car. As such with mods you need to go bespoke. :(

Which reminds me I must mail Paul!

Peter :D
