I replaced the original box with a lightweight s/s box which was part of TWR development for 255.
Scott has had Janspeed build a complete new system for me, as part of the engine mods and this will delete the collector box but retain Cat.
Scott will install the exhaust on my new engine before it goes for dyno test at Simon Norris's shop. So we should be able to give you BHP readings and noise levels.
Janspeed have said the system is designed to pass track noise regs at Castle Combe, which is our nearest test track.
Yes, Scott at SG Motorsport. He also runs renaultclioV6.com site when he gets around to updating it.
Will post about Janspeed quality when I see the finished product. Their pricing and help seems good, so far.
I know that a lots of BHP figures are posted on different forums for the V6 and other Clio models but as part of the improvements that I am having Scott do on my car, he is putting the car on the Chassis dyno at WRC, Silverstone and getting print-outs after each change.
This is the only methodical way to anaylse and support if the work has been an improvement or not.
Also, my 'new' engine will be put on the dynamometer at Steve Norris's Works, before it is put into the car, so again we will have a certified print-out of the BHP and torque readings.
So, just to let you all know that we got 250 BHP on the chassis dyno with just the lightweight TWR exhaust as the only change from the standard spec and max torque at 5500 rpm. Using 98 RON petrol.
The next stage is to try the car again with;
(1) the new full Janspeed exh. system fitted.
(2) the new ITG filter, air box & induction run fitted.
(3) Sagem coils & NGK platinum plugs.
(4) Grey injectors.
(5) ECU replot or Motec ECU fitted.
(6) engine changed!
When I figure out how to post the dyno plots from WRC I will do so.
As promised, dyno plot from WRC, peak HP and torque occur about 5300 with max HP at 6200. With only change to a standard 255 engine being fitment of ex-TWR development silencer box.
Figures as you'd expect really. They always show a little less than book figures. My Mk1 engine showed only 217bhp with a quicksilver box but without sufficient air through the side pod to the filter.
With Nitrous it showed 275@6000 and 330ft/lbs@3600!!
Heavily modified since........
