exhaust gas monitoring light

Basically got stuck in a big traffic jam on the way into London this morning...queued from Blackheath to the City..about an hour bumper to bumper at 10mph...Just as I neared destination, going over London Bridge, the little orange engine lit up on th edashboard and won't go out...

Had the light come on regularly in my 182 but it always went out once the engine cooled off.

I have non-std air filter, ecu and exhaust on the car..

Any thoughts or should I just give it back to Renault to sort?

Ultimately the best thing to do is to give it to Renault who can stick a CLIP computer on it to see what caused the fault.

Most common cause on V6s is when a coil goes ... assume the car is running OK and doesn't sound like a tractor.

Given the exceptional conditions that caused it to come on tho' I imagine some sensor value has fallen out of range. Orange light does sometimes clear itself after a few hundred miles, or you can disconnect the battery for a while ... but CLIP is the quickest route.

If you don't want to take to a main stealer tho' some of the independent Renault specialists have CLIPs too (Clarkie on here in the Devon, Mike Mardlin down at RenTech in Hampshire).

Thanks for that...its only got 1700 miles on it so I'd bagsy the sensor being out of its parameters. Will have a word with the guys at Renault Tonbridge.

Cheers,

Problem solved....fan, hot engine, long period of idling...meant the sensor thought the Vee was polluting the air.. Re-set byt he excellent chaps at Renault Tonbridge and all back to normal now.

Phew!

I have the very same light annoying the hell out of me. Probably because I am polluting the air more than an 18th century chimney.

Looking for a permanent fix if anyone is clever.
