Exhaust confusion part 2 - Orbisoud

Hi Guys

Very sorry to keep boring you with all my exhaust questions.
I think i got talked abit away from the Quicksilver exhaust in my previous thread. However i have now been looking a bit at the Orbisoud exhaust.
I believe that these was the guys who made the Trophy exhausts? Or was that Devil?
Anyways i got a quote for 1250 Euro for the backbox system similar to the Quicksilver/Janspeed.

So now my question is, what is the general feeling about these exhausts? How is the quality, fit and most important how is the sound?

If anyone has any pics of these systems, both alone and fitted to the car, i would really appreciate it.

The best exhaust for the V6. Not mega loud like some but adds some volume but also interesting variation to the sound and the best pops and crackles when lifting off.
Deep basey burble at low speed and a race car wail at higher revs. There are some videos on youtube.
My car had one fitted in 2012 by the previous owner who paid £1150 euros and then got Scott to fit it as it wasn't easy to centre the exit pipes but did a perfect job.
[mention=4295,#000000]Rusty[/mention] has been talking to them about buying one a couple of month ago and they replied that the road version is no longer available.
A second-hand one was for sale in France for 800 euros at the time.

I'm just relieved to see somebody finally spelling Orbisoud correctly, I swear the majority of the time its Orbisound. :rollseyes:

I understand they're the dog's undercarriage of V6 exhausts, that said they're pigging expensive and I'm more than happy with my "Spikespeed"

silly money for backbox, but they do sound nice!!

Orbisoud did make the trophy backbox, but they don't make it any more and its nothing like the ones they offer for the road cars.

i thought that was the spelling too so you and Duncan will be surprised to see this invoice with Orbi Sound Technology on. Their website is the same . It looks like they have changed the company name to the English spelling.

Ha! Who knew? Weirdly the website still states "Echappements Orbisoud" as a partner.
Wonder if they were bought out or integrated into a new company or something.

Then to use Orbi Sound technology is acceptable, but Orbisound is not :rofl:
 
Oh damn i am confused. I don't know what to choose.
I want the best for the car. The best looking, it has to be polished stainless, as the car is a mk1 and the exhaust is very much on show. Plus I want a really throaty and meaty sound. Also in idle, the sound has to match the looks of the car. But it also has to deliver the full throttle scream, as that is very addictive.
 
Do yourself a favour. Sit down with a picture of an Orbisoud silencer and try to figure out how well over €1000 as an asking price and a ball ache of trouble trying to get one over here is justified. Then ring a good exhaust company (I'm not talking about shitty boy racer companies) and ask them to replicate your Orbisoud picture with two Motorsport spec, re packable silencers. That way you can make it louder or quieter depending on your preference. Oh, and they will be able to then make it to fit through the OEM bumper with out the need of v clamps on the tailpipes and HUGE hangers on either end. (What is that all about?)
Using development as a reason to why they are so expensive is all very well and good but we are talking about a SILENCER here. Not tubular manifolds that have been built to a certain length and width with hours of research on a dyno to gain power. You will gain 0-5hp max. Spike developed his setup to the moon and back. That's way cheaper but lacks an hour with a polishing wheel from the factory.
We are all different and like different things from our cars so my opinion is just that, an opinion. It's very subjective. Just realise that there are a number of ways to skin a cat and it's always worth looking at different things before committing. I have shown the Orbisoud pics to a few friends a while back who laughed at the price of the French system. They build headers and systems for amazing race cars and understand how to get 600+ hp n/a cars through track noise restrictions.

Thanks mate. That are sensible words. I did however buy an exhaust system for my old corvette, that was 2000+€. But that was the best you could buy for the car. The fit and finish was spot on, and the sound was amazing. That is what I want for the Vee. Everyone talks very good about the spike Janspeed. I have no problem polishing it. Have all the equipment needed. I am just worried about the quality and the sound. Also I can only find systems only called Janspeed. Where does the "Spike" come in? Is that a special modified version?

You sort of hit the nail on the head regarding what I was getting at saying that. You bought a system for €2000, not a silencer. I have seen a few of these close up and even have the Orbisoud Trophy exhaust here. Workmanship to me seems great, pretty normal by all counts but they aren't like an Akropovic or the like which to me justify a higher price than normal.

Like I said before, don't take my word for it. Speak to people who have them, speak to people who build bespoke high quality exhausts and base you're decision on what fits the bill best for you.
 
Brett has some good points there, but can vouch for the workmanship of the Orbisoud end product (at least the road version)........it's top notch.

Just to be pedantic, it is either 'Orbisoud' or 'Orbi Sound Technology', but not 'Orbisound'.......except for the company's web address, and that may be because you cannot have a space in a domain name, hence 'orbisound-technology.com'. :)
