Winter job part one!

The standard exhaust on my phase 1 when i brought it was manky to say the least, so a job i wanted to do was make the best of it possible.

Here it is before:

And after many hours with autoglym & brasso, although i couldnt get it perfect, i scrubbed and buffed till my hands gave up:

Ignore my kind offer above, i was drunk posting!!

It is time consuming work, but if its not too rusty it could be done in an hour or so. The big patch on the right hand side of my exhaust took about 2 frustating hours to get clean, but the rest of the exhaust took about 40 mins.

I used Brasso on the stuborn marks applied with an old sock. Rubbing over the same area over and over without too much pressure. If you use too much pressure you may end up rubbing the rust coming off over the metal and scratching the exhaust. It feels like your making no progress at all at first, but it will eventually come off.

Once the gunk and rust was off i used autosol applied in the same way, then buffed it off with a microfibre towel.

If there wasnt much rust, autosol on its own would of done the trick nicely. But i found it useless at getting the tough grime off.

Cost = under a tenner for the polishes + the loss of one old sock.
