engine and gearbox codes

hi in my garage i have a good bottom end and also a gearbox which is in good working order i think they came out of an atmo that a friend had but it could have been a turbo the engine code is ( 840 725 ) and the gear box has these numbers on a tag ( 001208 38540 PON ) can anybody put me straight on this regards steve :roll:

I don't know the full codes but it seems you could be right that the parts are from an atmo.

They use engine type 847 and the gearbox is a type 385, both of which are in your codes.

Sorry - last post should have said engine type 840. 847 is a TX/Le Car engine.

thanks for that i thought they were from an atmo because the guy i got they from had head gasket trouble so he took the head off then the car stood for ages and he never got it sorted and gave it up as a bad job he new i had a atmo so he gave me all the spares

hi, I have a turbo 2 and am trying to figure out some engine codes but if this helps mine is stamped 840 F7/30.
Above where the engine plate is on the oil filter side of the block, I wonder if you could let me know what the cast in numbers on the block say?
