Hi Chris,

So far the supplier has quoted approx 60p per clip & he's still trying to source the studs.

I am contemplating getting a load of the clips & getting them zinc plated for a finish like the originals & as someone else on the forum has with their old ones, all depends on if people want them as they come ( grey matt finish, see previous pics ) or original finish, of course cost would rise slightly if plated.

I'll let everyone know when the supplier gives prices for studs.

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, just spotted these on Ebay and see they are using the same photo you posted ;)
Are these the guys getting you the fasteners and are the front luggage tray clips not different from the rear engine covers ones?

Hi Russo,

Yep it's the same guy I'm trying to organise it with. And yes the fronts are different. He contacted me tonight to say another V6 owner told him the fronts were different :). So I'm going to confirm their size & let him know as he has some 3mm shorter that might be perfect fit.

To let everyone who was interested know, he said this:
'I can sell these kits to you and the forum guys for £25.36 plus postage costs. This is made up of
8x £2.17 = £17.36 studs
8x £0.6 = £4.80 clips
16x £0.2 = £3.20 washers'

For the front studs it'll likely be an extra 4x£2.17 but that's to be confirmed.

On Ebay the kits are £55+£11 postage, so he's doing us a good price either with the front studs or without.

I hope to get a full kit this week to test fit, take pics etc & will let all those who've shown interest know the result.

Cheers,

Jim

Update:

The under bonnet studs & engine bay studs ARE different lengths:

Long stud is 27mm ( stud length from bottom of base to tip ), the short is 16mm ( all measurements are approx ).

Just for info the front studs are secured with a different clip ( see pic ) & these are riveted to the under bonnet area ( taken from: http://www.southco.com/en/d8 ).

I am confident the supplier will be able to get the short studs into the kit if people also require those.

Hi Eee007,

Go direct & i will arrange some sort of reference code with him that you can quote to identify yourself as a forum member ( & I'll post a direct link to the website in the forum ). If you go via eBay then it'll get messy as prices advertised there are for non forum members.

I will say tho that you'd be better off waiting just a few more days until I've tried out the kit as at the moment there's no 100% confirmation the studs are a perfect fit ( the supplier was being a little ahead of himself advertising them ). After the confusion over the front stud length, I only gave the revised short stud info to him this morning!.

I should be able to confirm this with pics in the coming days.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi James,

If I post a discount code in this forum, can only paid up forum members read it?, should I put it in the members discount section?

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, would it be too much hassle to price up for 'starlock washers' as OEM for the engine bay covers???? Just not sure how the nylon retaining washers will hold up with the engine bay heat.
They seem relatively inexpensive so could be purchased later if required ;) Ebay link to Starlock washers
