Very bizarre!

There is a separat post about this Ali so not quite as bizarre as it may seem ...

My understanding is that Karl has been asked to follow normal trader rules and register as a trader as others have to ...

I guess to you, me, Karl and others this may seem unecessary but I guess it is consistent with Forum policy and creates a level playing field.

Karl's contact details are on some of his posts and am sure many of us will be in touch via these means or other forums. If Karl wishes to register as a trader then that is the alternate option. Do you intend to do that Karl (thanks for coming onto the Forum anyway BTW) ?

Martin

Thanks for the clarity Martin.

I'm in completely agreement. Rules for traders are their for a reason.

Right ... seeing as Karl decided to make this a public discussion ...

So yep, we asked SMC and Karl to participate properly on the forum as a Trader as per our selling rules. Just like we don't let non-members post in the for sale sections or instead post for sale ads in the bits of the forum they do have access to as forum members, we similarly expect commercial traders to consider a commercial membership. Rocking up as a base forum member and posting "come buy my wares", however competitively priced, in the wrong sections of the forum isn't the way to do it. I'm sure we've all seen people have challenges with buying/selling on clubs and the selling rules are there to try and reduce those. Also, SMC are not the only Renault parts team who want our custom either, and so we do expect traders to agree an approach with us and to build a longer term relationship as others have done.

Whilst Karl talks in terms of pennies, as much as traders might be pairing their margins back they're not doing it simply for the love of us. Management chains are driving them with sales targets, they're making decisions on margins within surprisingly flexible bounds, they're giving us strong deals, but they're still making money! As mention above, there appears to be a growth of manufacturer parts teams being encouraged to interact directly on club fora, and that's to drive revenue and profits! Anybody who might want to look on eBay at the prices SMC are offering front discs at will see the further margin still in there to play with!

When asked to consider how SMC could become a trader on the forum via an appropriate membership/advertising, Karl declined to do so and said we should delete his account. I'm confident that we're not alone in asking such things from traders, and I'm similarly confident that many other clubs don't want commercial traders doing so as basic forum members in the wrong places.

If SMC can't be arsed to join the club and follow the rules then they clearly don't want our money IMO. :(

The club rules are carefully chosen and applied evenly for the good of everybody. :approve:

It is only fair ALL traders should contribute to the club rather than make money from it without giving anything in return.

Come on Karl, Stop being tight about it and get signed up! ;)
