Thinking about heading to Dastek to put my Vee on the rolling road (curious to see its actual BHP :) )

Has anyone been there? Its in Dalgety Bay in Fife, Scotland.

http://www.dastek.co.uk/

Also, what do people reckon of the Unichip? Worth going for on a V6?

They are good guys and know there stuff. I have spoken to them but get my car RR in Aberdeen (Dastek agents). I do know a few folk that use them and never a problem - Only problem is that they are usually busy!

I have a Dastek in my Fiat Coupe and it with the other mods raised it from 220BHP to 285BHP. Just going in for another remap to go into the 300's.

The good thing is they can be mapped for every mod you do, Down side is if you do loads of mods you end up getting remapped all the time!!

Probably best to get an exhaust and air filter fitted (if you want) and then get the unichip fitted.

After a few hours to fit you will need 3-6 hours on the rolling road so they can tweek various maps and get a good one.

i heard the dastek for the v6 aint out till march april time and will be very good but at least 700 pound that was the email i got from them anyway

Any updates with the Dastek unichip? its more just out of interest  much to much going on with the T2 at the moment [smilie=icon_eek.gif] Funny thing is a few cars here in the past have had the Dastek treatment and have responded really good! saying that they have all been turbo motors so i wouldnt expect the same results :(
Strange but Aimy's Mk1 seems faster(maybe the mods on hers do work), time will tell, but that would be a red face having Aimy coming by me :) Ime safe at the mo as the Vee's tucked away in the garage for a few Months.
As i mentioned its just out of interest, seriously not interested in turning it into a Road-Rocket.

Just received a reply back from dastek, not much info but.................................................

Hi Steve,

The Q chip will work on the V6 Clio, I do not have power gains for you. Please contact Ric from Ric Wood Tuning on Tel: 0161 483 4810

[email protected], for price on fitment and tuning on a rolling road.

Kind regards

Like the chap who posted earlier in this thread - unless you have a few mods the unichip isnt really worth going for in my opinion.

Even with mods, really those that are possibly only going to throw your fueling out - so not just an air filter.

Personally unless I boly on a turbo - I wouldnt be using a unichip as in my other car.

However live mapping is becoming more and more popular so may be a less expensive route for similar gain.

I spoke with SGM and Scott recomended one of these. So they must be OK I think he has been in touch with them ref the connectiond to the OEM ECU.

If any help

A recent reply from Ric Wood;

hi steve
yes the std manifolds are restrictive
a unichip fitted and mapped £450+vat
but if you do the mods first as we map them live
let me know if you need any more info
cheers ric

Sounds OK for a car that has some mods, ime (only) toying with the idea of a orbisound manifold to match up with the orbisound silencer, the prob is no cats, mot could be a prob without a freindly tester  and maybe just to noisy for the road, dont know if you looked at my other post comparing the orbisound and Aimys Janspeed, i,e. the orbisound is much louder then the Janspeed, after the initial shock on the motorway i think i can live with it, as its only going to be used as a toy, going de-cat would move it up a few decibels, Ktec reckon running without cats shouldnt cause it to go into limp mode? but may cause the engine warning light to come on with no cats, so its if Dastek can switch off the 2nd lambda? then is it al worth it re; power-noise etc :s

I doubht if it will happen as theres to much gong on with the T2 + the idea with the Vee was/is to have a nice mint standard'ish car and use the T2 & TR for fun, tempting and interesting though

Steve

De-cat does have it ups and downs, pros and cons.

It is rather loud.

No cats = no damaged cats.
Emisson light is on constant but does flash when there's a problem.
Friendly MOT men indeed.

I've no idea what the power gain figure is for de-cat ?
