Not really a problem but, I started the car up tonight and two lights were on... the serv light and the airbag light were on... then after about 3 mins of driving they went off?

any ideas?

Some say ......

Fiddle with the wires under the passenger seat for the air bag light.

And with the serv light - When was it last done? Is it due?

Steve

As far as I know the Serv light has nothing to do with services ... it's not an indicator like some cars showing that it needs to be done. Instead its an indicator showing that you should take it to the garage because of a failure.

As Steve says tho' the Serv/Airbag combo is very common and in almost all instances is due to a loose connection under the seats. Seems to be a weakness on 172/182/V6s for some reason.

Yeah its weird, but last night i was working on a friends car and as we went to leave (i was giving him a lift home) I went and started the car up to warm through a bit before setting off... The lights were on on the dash until he got in the passenger seat then next time I looked they had gone off.

Ive driven to work this morning with no passenger and the lights have both been on together all the way in.

so maybe it is sonething to do with the passenger seat? Ill have a look tonight.

Am i right in thinking that if the airbag light is on, the airbags wont work in the event of a crash?

correct^

Ive wiggled the wires but no joy... Will have a better look on the weekend in the daylight... I think it must be a related problem i.e. the serv light is on due to the fact that the air bag light is on...

sorted, a good old wiggle of the wires under the drivers seat did the trick :)

Try both the drivers side connections.

Undo and push inn again.

That normaly sorts it out.

Have had to do both sides on a number of occassions.
