I like the car , it is too dear but even terribly crashed cars still sell for £4.5k +
An excellent , original , genuine O/S wing has just sold on Ebay for £1.24 (sorry no link ... again) and it was from another one of those V6 ph1 182 3.0 ('05) cars , no less ! The front bumper will repair (it'll have to!) as will the rear bumper , the rear quarter pods are available (2 different sellers) on ebay at £300 ... the rear 1/4 panel is tricky , a good body shop could make it perfect but would cost £ A LOT ! ... probably best to get a genuine , new clio panel and cut out any unwanted bits (properly) or buy a V6 one , if available
My biggest concerns however are in the way the car was crashed and that it may have been used since. Some of the best , lightest looking salvage turns out to be a nightmare .
The silver duct taping indicates that it might have been back out on a track since , or on the roads , the owner showing off "yeah!, spun my V6 again!" ... maybe ...
I think it has crashed going backwards (out of control) the N/S 1/4 panel and back wheel impacting first , followed by a mini-spin to the front N/S corner, saving the intake pod ,
Both wheels are damaged , severe, sideways impact on the wheels would save the car but put huge strain on the suspension/driveshafts/differential etc.etc.
Driving a damaged car fast will cause irrepairable damage (crabbing and premature wear on every component ... did you ever buy a car that just kept on breaking down ? ... this is probably why)
Don't really like the way the car sits , or the camber of the N/S wheels (or the fact it is on VERY uneven ground!) Potential buyers should drive it over old fashioned tracking plates on site , they're cheap and lightweight and you will almost definately know someone with a set )
If it is an insurance situation then it is a CAT C , I'd be very suprised if it were only D , because of the number of damaged panels (but "buy-it-back" negotiations can quite legally influence it's write-off category !) May well be unlisted , but would be the first thing I'd mention !
I do like the one owner and low miles and if repaired to a high standard it will one day be worth much more than £6.5k , but at the moment it is purely a buyer's market , £6.5k is the opening bid and there is a reserve somewhere above this amount ! So , good luck with that !
I am assuming that the 2nd owner has crashed it and didn't buy it like that ... even so ... would you not repair it ? ... if I crashed my girl this little much , i'd already be fixing her !
I do concour that if I smashed my V6 horribly and it was too upsetting to look at , then I would just sell it on Ebay , without reserve , and buy another ... perhaps I should also mention that if I do fatally crash it , then I have , in my Will , left it to the Cliov6 club C/O Duncan and James to do with it whatever they see fit . (I'd like to see it rebuilt as a V6clio demonstrator , personally)
Sorry if that's a bit morbid to some folk , but I know my family wouldn't want to see it again and I am a realist , my best mate gets my GSXR750 full race kit under the same deal ( I get his hyabussa) ... the Turbo would go back to Company "funds" ... sorry !
I'd give £4k cash right now , maybe £4.5k upon inspection , but not a penny more ... it's not that it's not worth more , it's just that right now ; you don't have to buy a car like this ! but one day , even in this preserved damaged state ... oh baby !
Like already mentioned , repairing it poorly would be the worst thing to do , you might as well varnish an antique desk ! Repaired properly , it is just a "prang" with documentation and photos .
I've recently seen my own personal Andy Rouse sell for £16k and they took that car away from me on 2 different trailers !
