Coils - Can they fail twice?

Ok we all know about coil failures me included which is why I changed all 6 on mine one year ago.

Question is can they fail twice as I started my car this morning and it was rumbling / shaking on tickover plus when revving its misfiring like a cylinder is down?

The other strange thing is that there is no engine management light on as well which should happen for coils though last year when the OBD showed 5 coils were faulty the light did not come on as well?

Mine went the other day with no engine light showing, changed all 6 this time to the new vario type from Renault.

Now runs like a dream

ok thanks - will get my mechanic to check to make sure its a coil and not something else cos I'm also thinking its something to do with the throttle body / potentiometer as its felt groggy on light throttle 1-3rpm over the last few weeks, is there any way to check this as well?

if it is a coil then i'm obviously not too chuffed at changing all 6 barely over a year ago to then find I might have to change all six again so will be complaining to Renault! I did phone Peugoet here who said the part no had changed from 597077 to 597094 so wondering if these are the new vario / valeo ones?
