coil gone?

I putted the V out of the garage today and i saw the light comming on above the light from the brake pads. I think this is probably the emission light. I haven't drove it but have the feeling it doesn't have power anomore. Probably a coil thats broken i think. On idle it runs like a dog. What do other people think that is the problem.
