what is the "switch" on top of the clutch pedal for? (looks same as brake light switch)

Don't know what exactly you are reffering to but it might be for cruise control on a mk2

yes its a phase 2 and it fits the same as the brake light switch but to the clutch .......cruise control?

I believe the switch is a clutch pedal sensor and it looks the same as the brake switch, it's interacts with cruise control system.
