Clutch just gone today on my way home.

Went all of a sudden, and only just got me back.

Anyone know of an uprated clutch kit for the Mk1, not including Tilton?

Phone Helix,......... but I wish you luck, They've been saying for 4 years now that they're working on one and it'll be ready any time!!

:approve: Cheers. Shan`t hold my breath then! [smilie=redface.gif]

Just checked through the service history, and the bloody thing was replaced at 25k. Its on 38k now, so only got 13k miles out of it!

Ordered the clutch kit from Renault. Will be here tomorrow. Looked at the repair manual in the Wiki, and it says take the engine and box out of the car. :(

Anyone done one? Do you really need to drop the lot out?

What sort of price will we be looking at for a new clutch inc. fitting on a mk2? (might be worth saving for it now).

And anyone with a MK2 had to replace one yet? (longevity of a MK2 clutch....Harry [smilie=hi.gif] ??)

Mine has had a new clutch @ 39K miles.

Peter :(

Can you normal drive with the tropy clutch, also when there is a lot af traffic?
It is not cheap,840 euro (600) only the parts, then you have to get in yet in the car.

Anyone experience wg=hit this?

when u say it went all of a sudden, do u mean one minute it was driving and the next it would just rev and go no where

The clutch/flywheel advertised by Yozzasport refers to the Trophy one I believe. This is what we had intended fitting to mine but the Trophy spline is very slightly different so it is not compatible with a standard gearbox.
That's why Scott has got Tilton (who make the Trophy clutch) to make something with the correct spline. This should be with Scott any day now and he will fit it up to check for pedal feel etc. All the measurements suggest this will fit. We will know then how heavy this feels with the rest of the Trophy setup fitted.
I suspect it will not suit your average daily driver........

Within 6 miles. Slipped a couple of times before, but as I`m new to Vee ownership, I put this down to the weak clutch. Both times it slipped, was when changing into 2nd from the shift light in first.

Yesterday I drove out of work at a normal pace, and it slipped when I changed to second at around 3k. Carried on driving home, and it slipped worse and worse. Towards the end of my journey, any more than the slightest accelerator pedal movement would send the revs soaring.

This morning I left for work early, so I could baby the car all the way there (I work at a garage), but no slip AT ALL. :s

Even tried to make the clutch slip, and it resolutely would not.
Spoke to my mechanic, and we`ve decided to take the box out anway, and try and work out whats up. :(

Maybe air in your hydraulic pedal?

We discussed that, but air in the hydraulic pedal would mean the clutch won't disengage, clutch slip means the clutch isn`t fully engaged. Please correct me if this is wrong... I'd much rather bleed the hydraulics than take the box out! ;)

I think you are right, maybe a spring in the clutch is broken en is stuck beteen something somtimes.
If you can find a leak by the gearbox (workcilinder), then i think indeed the problem is in the box.
