Clio williams driveshaft

Can anyone tell me if the left driveshaft and cv joints from a clio 172 is the same as the one on a clio williams? Someone told me they are the same, and i could use one from a 172

172 spline hub end is fatter iirc

Is it the spline that slots into the hub that's fatter, or the spline on the end of the shaft that slots into the CV joint? If its the spline on the hub that's fatter and the rest of the 172 shaft is the same as the williams, was thinking i could get the 172 shaft and fit the outer CV joint off the williams shaft onto it.

Its the tripod joint on the gearbox end of the shaft that needs replacing. I cant find anywhere that sells the tripod joints on there own so im getting a second hand shaft and swapping bits over.

The 172 shafts aren't the same as williams shafts at all!
They are longer for wider widetrack.
(they fit mk1 clios but you need wishbones,hubs,shafts)
