Clio V6 insurance for under 21's?

I was 1400 i think at 20....Then 1100, then 600odd now 400odd at 23, plus it's only on the road for 6months. Bargain, Z4 costs more!!

Both Via Admiral, 5yrs NCB, No points/crash/Folks, misses on policy/Multicar. Excess on Vee is 750 tho!!

Doesn't make a lot of sense to commit to a car without sorting out your insurance ... but it looks as though you haven't purchased it yet and have the option not to buy ...

Insuring a car like this, which has pretty much got to be as high risk as you can get, is going to be expensive at 19 - fair play for having a go though ... 2k would sound reasonable to me ... you could always try one of these schemes where you pay by the mile and have a curfew at certain times of the day ...

Good luck with your research and you would enjoy the Vee but at 19 you can feel like your hands are tied with regards to insuring cars - but your time will come - even if it is not right now :approve:

Yeah I haven't put a deposit down on the car, was just a strong chance if the insurance was right but it's just that bit much ya know! Gonna have a look at some Jap cars I think, some nice Silvia's about and such. I will own the Clio within the next year or two though.

I also own a Toyota Celica GT4. You could check out the later ST205 model (check out www.gt4oc.net) they are, if you get a good one, reliable and rare with a good level of equipment, performance (250 bhp standard) and fun factor. Being 4wd (torsen and viscous couple diffs) and turbo-charged with no fancy electronic aids they make a good drivers car ... Insurance may be still high-ish but you can buy a great example for less than 5k probably even down to 3k. The WRC versions (limited run for homologation) are a bit more sought after but aren't much different from the main-stream cars.

I am sure we will see you back in a Vee at some stage if you don't find a decent insurance quote.

Just looking through loads of different Toyotas at the minute. Will definitely return here when I get the V6!

Reckon an Evo 6 might be insurable at 19?

19!!! wow, sadly your going to get hit with the stereotype that in control with such a car you are a very high risk. You will do well to find someone who will insure you, and if they do its going to cost half the price of the car!!!!

Best of luck with it though! Take care with the car and take it slowly, especially as you will be learning to drive it at the worst possible time of the year weather wise!!!!

Yea alot them don't believe I can even afford the car which is a shame really as I`ve always been a car nut and my dad has always had quite nice cars (911 Turbo, E46 M3, Twin Turbo Supras etc). I`m not really into driving around like a lunatic I just think it looks stupid especially seeing people wheelspinning through town haha! Will keep trying and if not I guess I`ll have to find something else!

Cheers for all the fast replies!

You say you're not gonna drive round like a lunatic at 19, which I take on face value, but you are looking to buy cars with high performance and are mentioning cars which young lunatics drive - this is what insurance companies will base quotes on, sterootyping maybe but they are usually right for the majority of cases ...

Evo 6 !? My point exactly in terms of the cars young people want and which end up getting wrapped or stolen - I expect this will be expensive and maybe more-so than a Vee ...

Insurance companies want 19 year olds to be driving Corsa's, if you don't want to drive a Corsa at 19 you will have to pay a shedload for insurance unless you find a compromise car or reduce your expectations. Ironically it was the same when I was your age - the performance car list was smaller i.e. cossies, GTi-s etc. but the issues were the same ...

It's a pants situation for a young petrol head ... Money talks and the only way is to buy yourself out of the shackles with massive premiums ...

Oh I will certainly push the car but there is a time and a place for that! I see what you're saying though, as far as they know I`m just another absolute madman who wants a fast car. I`ll keep you updated on what I end up with.

im 26 and my last mk1 was like £1300, and they want the same for a mk2. i do have 6points tho, 3 of those being a CU80 Naughty talking on phone in traffic.

Sadly the Insurance company's have it so right with young drivers .I have always been with the the N F U. 4 yrs ago I put my 21 yr old son Nicholas on my Insurance, He had just got back from a tour of duty in Irag. So thought it would be nice, "Considering "!! Have to say it was 2 months later he lost it. Hitting a curb, Then the Fence Etc. Sadly he was only Third party on my Policy due to his Age. That cost 4 Grand to Fix .So hey you might think I learnt a good lesson.!!!!!! .Well last October my Youngest son Colby who is 17 was having his Passing out Parade in Harrogate. So thought it would be nice to Insure my 2nd Son Jordan to drive up to Harrogate with me in the V6 to watch it. Hes just 22 so again only Third party on my Insurance. The next day he asked to Borrow the V6 to go out in. I did say no!!!!. Put got the "Well" You let Nicholas!!!!!!!!!! . 1 Hour later he had Planted it into a Crash Barrier. The Damage was almost Identical to the First Crash, Another 4 Grand . Almost got it Ready for Jason to Paint . And don't worry this Car will never come up for sale, Its with me for Life.

27 now and the best I could get was £1100 with 6 points - failing to identify the driver.

My insurance on a mk2 around 7 years ago was £2600, the youngsters today have got it sweet!

im 22 and just been quoted £874 for my renewal with adrianflux. i dont think that can be beaten judging by a few quotes i have recieved elsewhere from bell, admiral , swinton etc etc
