Insuring a car like this, which has pretty much got to be as high risk as you can get, is going to be expensive at 19 - fair play for having a go though ... 2k would sound reasonable to me ... you could always try one of these schemes where you pay by the mile and have a curfew at certain times of the day ...
Good luck with your research and you would enjoy the Vee but at 19 you can feel like your hands are tied with regards to insuring cars - but your time will come - even if it is not right now :approve:

You could check out the later ST205 model (check out www.gt4oc.net) they are, if you get a good one, reliable and rare with a good level of equipment, performance (250 bhp standard) and fun factor. Being 4wd (torsen and viscous couple diffs) and turbo-charged with no fancy electronic aids they make a good drivers car ... Insurance may be still high-ish but you can buy a great example for less than 5k probably even down to 3k. The WRC versions (limited run for homologation) are a bit more sought after but aren't much different from the main-stream cars.
I am sure we will see you back in a Vee at some stage if you don't find a decent insurance quote.

Best of luck with it though! Take care with the car and take it slowly, especially as you will be learning to drive it at the worst possible time of the year weather wise!!!!
Yea alot them don't believe I can even afford the car which is a shame really as I`ve always been a car nut and my dad has always had quite nice cars (911 Turbo, E46 M3, Twin Turbo Supras etc). I`m not really into driving around like a lunatic I just think it looks stupid especially seeing people wheelspinning through town haha! Will keep trying and if not I guess I`ll have to find something else!
Cheers for all the fast replies!

You say you're not gonna drive round like a lunatic at 19, which I take on face value, but you are looking to buy cars with high performance and are mentioning cars which young lunatics drive - this is what insurance companies will base quotes on, sterootyping maybe but they are usually right for the majority of cases ...
Evo 6 !? My point exactly in terms of the cars young people want and which end up getting wrapped or stolen - I expect this will be expensive and maybe more-so than a Vee ...
Insurance companies want 19 year olds to be driving Corsa's, if you don't want to drive a Corsa at 19 you will have to pay a shedload for insurance unless you find a compromise car or reduce your expectations. Ironically it was the same when I was your age - the performance car list was smaller i.e. cossies, GTi-s etc. but the issues were the same ...
It's a pants situation for a young petrol head ... Money talks and the only way is to buy yourself out of the shackles with massive premiums ...
