Clio Clio 197 meglio conversion

Hi new to the forum, im attempting a meglio conversion in the new year and have a question for anyone who has experience in these conversions.
Do you use the standard 197 intank fuel pump? or is it best to upgrade to a walbro 255? etc. Thanks in advance.

I had the original Clio when I had mine mapped. But fitting a new walbro at a later date caused me major over fuelling issues. So I’d do it before any mapping.

Thanks for the help guys its good to know theres others with experience in this conversion.
I will check out that thread thanks.

So its recommended to add a return line? Im guessing the standard regulator can cope ok? or does this require upgrading also? Im not looking to get it mapped for a while i was going to leave it stock and iron out and problems before increasing power etc.
Would this be ok or would it run rich/bad on the stock map due to the extra fuel pressure?

It all depends how much power you want. Oem fixed fuel pressure single pipe setup with a good pump will usually be ok on a road car for 320ish hp maybe a little more.

If you're staying standard power, the OE fuel setup in the 197 is fine. If anything renew the pump. I put my Meg engine in, plugged the fuel line in and that was it...ran fine for me and I gave it some hammer, the next owner used it on track too and it was absolutely fine.

I would say max power id be looking for would be no more than around 270-280bhp. So if i replace the standard 197 pump with a walbro 255 and leave it standard as a non return setup with the standard regulator that would be fine for the standard map and my future power goals? Thanks for the help btw
