Clio 197/200 steering wheel... Don't under estimate.

Just fitted a 200 wheel, and can't stop driving the car.... I've run the standard wheel for 5 years, then the Sabelt for 5, but this totally transformed it for me. Good chunky feel, looks the part in an OEM way, good closer reach, easy to fit (I didn't use spacer), makes car feel newer and more solid. Can't recommend enough (beats kw, ttv, etc for best mod I've done so far)

Now just to have seats and wheel trimmed to match rest of standard trim (and the seat backs in illiad), to really smarten it all up.

Couldn't agree more - I 'upgraded' to the 197 steering wheel soon after acquiring [v6plaque]002[/v6plaque], and haven't looked back since. So much better than the standard item.

Guess you didn't try to get one with the blue band at 12 o'clock - back then, Renault wanted an extra £100 or so just for that, as opposed to the 'standard' wheel, which had a red band!

Cruise control and airbag all connected up fine and have had no issues since.

I have the wheel in the Raider, but wasn't prepared for how good it'd feel in the V6. I'm going to have retrim, and will think about band colour then. [emoji1]

Wiring pretty simple, airbag easy, little bit of chopping for cruise. I just followed the forum guide!

Weirdly, mine came with the Renaultsport one and I briefly changed back to the original. The 'rim' was too thick for my liking! However, in an attempt to sort out the driving position I ended up with a big spacer and an offset Nardi wheel (I'm relatively short).

I have retrimmed my standard wheel & it has made a massive difference [emoji1303]

Thought about 200 wheel but wanted to keep it more OEM

Had same thoughts about OEM, but after coming from the Sabelt it feels very OEM even though it's wrong! Also makes it a bit different from the interior of my 172...

If reno cocked one thing up across the ph2 clio range it was the god awful steering wheel. The later looks perfect in my opinion. Great choice of upgrade.

What is the size difference between the original ph2 wheel and the 197 wheel? I was thinking of doing this swap as well.

Our knowledge base says “despite being essentially the same diameter, it feels much smaller because it's so much more chunky.“

Yep, definitely brings the wheel a good 20-30mm nearer (I don't have the spacer either). I still have standard in daily 172, and it feels huge...
