Clio Clio 182 Trophy back to oem(ish)

Hi Adey, there is a thread ongoing over on ClioTrophy regarding cams and the RS2 that could benefit from your thoughts, we are a little short of hands on expertise.

poped a post up, longer runners are defo the way for the peak power increase that people want. i think the rs2 extra with a pure motorsport manifold would do amazing things even on the stock cams re timed to group n spec

Thanks for that. So you've moved the Trophy on? I hadn't even considered a different manifold as that is where they gained most of improvement over the 172 (or so i believe) It kinda gets to the point with that engine though that that amount of money is just absurd.

Yeah I forgot to update here, baby on the way (here now) ment the fun small daily had to move on. Even the Mrs has replaced her clio she's had for 3 years. Dam kids, though a blob eye subaru wagon, renault 5 campus and a vrs fabia dsg have replaced them so not all bad.

I've had many clio and many variations of tune but looking into the pure Motorsport manifold would be next, it's miles better than the oem one, designed by a chap called sandy brown who knows his shit. But it gets to the point where your putting 3-4k into a 4-5k car for essentially 25-30bhp, crazy money!

I would have agreed until I saw Ricardo's thread on the Supercharged Petrol Blue Clio he did.

Have you seen it? I know you may well be an NA purist, but that thing is an utter weapon.

If i had a basic 182 it would probably be turbo'd or charged by now but I have a rather nice example T. Some may argue that the T is as throwaway as any other 182 but though I have a hankering for a little more power there is a line I am not willing to cross. If it can be bolted on and taken off with no visible sign then fair enough. Outright power is not what the T is about anyway and speed for speeds sake doesn't really interest me, acceleration maybe ;)

I have also built a supercharged clio previously, bolt on bolt off (y) 240bhp with na delivery. Mine was running 280 on stock internals but I wouldn't recommend it, I just like to push things a little
