Clio Clio 182 Trophy back to oem(ish)

The spares car had an offer made on it, should be gone tomorrow, haven't got the time to play with it, it now needs a clutch doing along with belts and stuff and I CBA to take the engine out on the drive in the cold.

Anyway got these today

also ended up fitting the ecu and uch that was mapped for the inlet i have. I was a bit dubious at first as it was a bit of an unknown but i have done some digging and lots of questions regarding it and it turns out it was mapped by paul @ RSTuning. the car ran very well with the RSTuner reflash on but after finding paul had done the remap on it i had no hesitations with fitting it. Will let you know how it runs, i do hope its even better than what was on there.

I have also found that there is another club running at my local RR on the 22nd of nov, the place where it was last ran, so ill be going along and will hopefully get an overlay of my last runs with the new setup, showing gains if any. I do expect a wide spread of torque compared to what it had (y)

cheers bud. got a few issues with the car now. no cruise control working and its constantly telling my boot is open so im guessing the ecu was off an early ph2 172, poo. goes well but not what im after, i like the creature comforts and not having lights on my dash grrrrrrr. will have to refit the other ecu and uch and eventually get it mapped up by scoff or RSTuning

original ecu and uch back in. no cruise and an annoying fault that said my boot was open all the time was too much for me lol. I have been chatting with scoff via email regarding it, i can try flashing the map off the RSTuning ecu on to my RSTuner flashed original ecu and it should work fine, though henk has done some jiggery pokery and i cant read the map off it to back it up if there is an issue. hmmm

I am unsure what the problem here is Adey ?

Has the map been locked by Paul ?

Is the RS tuner ECU locked ?

Let me get it right in my head.

RS Tuning ECU back in --> RS Tuner download it and back it up
Working ECU <--- RS tuner <-- RS tuning map back on ?

It's a combo of things, each ecu is coded to an body control unit (uch) I can read Paul's ecu but the uch that is matched with it causes me issues.

The original ecu (rstuner mapped) is locked so I can't back it up.

The plan was to try and flash Paul's map onto my original ecu but if it goes Pete tong I won't be able to re flash the rstuner map as I no longer have the Rs tuner interface.

Few more emails with scoff and he's going to virginize Paul's ecu so then it will pair with my uch, hopefully giving me the correct or closer map on my car but still retaining all the features and setup my uch has. This is a test for scoff to as he's interested in confirming a few things. Then at a later date have it remapped fully once I have a few extra bits on.

I think Scoff is interested in the 182 stuff as it has all the refinements such as cruise, auto this and that etc. I know when mine went to him he couldn't guarantee retaining OE features such as cruise when piggybacking the Adaptronic. Now that 182s are coming up at a decent price more people are choosing to go boosted and have him map the car. Luckily everything still worked on the OE side of things with the Adaptronic controlling the boost and fuel

yeah, i also know hes tinkering away on a decent oem low boost turbo map for the stock ecu, lots of time and recoding going into it. could potentially save 750-1k on a turbo build if he gets it working well too.

I think he will be working with Mr Greer ..

Andy passes Scoff some work. I guess it could benefit both if they can get the costs down .

Adey, what's the score with UCH's? ie, can they be removed from a scrap car & 'recoded' to work with another car?

One of the girls at work has a 1.2L Clio (53 plate) & the hazards are constantly on. She took it to a garage who told her the UCH has failed & needs replacing, to the tune of 300+ sobs, which is silly to pay out, given the car probably isn't worth much more than that (her words, not mine).

You can if your handy with a soldering iron, get another uch that is the same and swap the security chip over. Need to get the same part numbered one idealy or an n3 version and have access to CLIP. I removed and replaced my chip whist playing around.

Soldering's part of my job, so ok there. Is the N3 the latest revision/backwards compatible if an older type was in situ?

I don't have access to Clip...

Best bet is to get the same one then, there were 5 versions I think but the main 3 were n1 base spec cars, n2 few options (my trophy has this) n3 everything on there auto everything and cruise. N3 is backwards compatible but needs programming. Renault only supply the n3. With no clip just get the same one as she has. The security chip is a 8 leg eprom in the top left corner of the board (added a pic for you). Labelled 93C66.

image.webp A little anal I know but the blue intake hose annoyed me, luckily I have silicone hoses.co.uk local so a black hose has replaced it. Last time the bumper was off I also repainted the grill as it had gone grey with age.
