Clio Clio 182 Trophy back to oem(ish)

decided to crack on with the inlet today, was the biggest pig of a job going! took about 4 hours in total. Starts and runs fine on my rs tuner map but still need to swap over the ecu, started raining so it halted play. sounds nice, and seems to go well up the road. had to bodged the coil pack on but have already been on to omex about getting a coil pack bracket from the itb kit they sell. Then the whole lot needs tiding up. I have tried to keep the wiring as tidy as possible and hide it where i can. Also need to relocate and panel off the airfilter further away from the engine. Tempted to get a smaller rad and ditch the aircon, i have used it once this year. Running a shorter radiator would allow me to lengthen the inlet further forward, more peak flow possibly. Any way all in and looks ok, engine could do with a clean and paint up but im not too bothered about that

yeah quite, you could do it cheaper though, this has had a lot of time spent on the design and fitment for a stock ecu car

A friend of mine used a vw polo radiator in his itb'd clio and that worked very very well sitting lower allowing for a longer runner length.

thats the one im looking at too, ran one in my last itb clio too. need to get hold of a clio cup alternator setup next

Yea I know what you mean, to remove the ac from the car? Have you thought about an oil cooler? He also ran a Mocal kit with a thermostat housing and sandwich plate, that worked really well when it was getting nailed :grin.gif: but I've also heard of people not running coolers on racing cups, and not experiencing any over heating problems at all :secret.gif:

never needed an oil cooler, but then ive never checked oil temps. as a part time track car i think itll be fine didnt run one on the sc clio either. Got the bracket from omex yesterday, just need to measure up some spacers and itll be fitted. Also while on my travels for parts for the spare 172 i managed to pick up a 172 cup alternator setup so if the weather is ok tomorrow ill get that fitted up. Will loose a little more weight out of the car and make some space for the future, my arms are mangled from fitting that inlet manifold. If i had the alternator setup yesterday it would of saved me a load of hassle and scrapes ahh well.

Little more done today and kind of lucky I did get in and do the cup alternator setup. Whilst stripping it down I found the alternator to be held in with just one bolt, the main pivot bolt was no where to be found! New setup on and the original lines manipulated for now. You can also see how tight it was in places with the inlet and aircon fitted.

Short rad on order, still got a fair bit to do but should be ready for some trackdays straight off the bat after the new year

Well the car has aggravated me properly for the first time today, left work this afternoon, slight hesitancy, joined motorway and then it gets a bit more frequent. Then comes the full miss fire then clears. Get close to home all fine and then it suddenly runs on 3 permanently, no fault codes no lights. Pull the leads and injectors and narrow it down to cylinder 2. So swap out the coil pack, still the same, swap out the leads for another set, still number 2. So go pick up a set of plugs and they are not too cheap for the correct ones, come home fit them..........

still the same, so that puts me down to injector fault or something more serious, though the fact it started doing it while going very slowly and lightly makes me think/hope its just the injector.

so it fecked up again this morning on school run, i ended up ditching the car and have just got it home, time to bust out the tools again. EML is on this time so hopefully there is a decent fault code stored

upstream lambda fault stored. a search on the subject seems to find cars that just go a little lumpy to full on unusable. Mines on upper end of that scale. urgh more money but at least it should sort it out.

So lambda replaced and I can't believe the difference, car is super smooth part abd full throttle it pulls from any revs, fingers crossed it was the cause. While the car was on the ramps I decided to do and oil and filter change, compliment the new plugs, so a mini service. I also fitted the shorter rad in and gave it some more fresh coolant.
