Clio 1.8 16v phase 1 gearbox

First off im new to the forum so Ho do to you all

This is my first Clio ive allways had Vauxhalls so please bare with lol, ive managed to bottom my clio and take a nice peice out the gear box:cry:, it dosent look like a Jim will fix it job so im looking for a new/used gear box. Ive read in a few places that maybe a Clio 172 box would fit??

Has anyone tried an alternative g/box in there clio,im not sure what the g/box code is either to confirm anything :?

jb1, jb3 and jc5 boxes should fit.. they all have a 3 digit suffix to the model that says something about ratios, etc. check the tag on your existing box (probably a jb3) to find out what model you have. these boxes are used in quite a few renaults, btw.

Thanks for the reply, the code ive found on the boc is jb3,is there any issues with speedo cables etc or mounts fitting these boxes do you know? i.e. using existing mounts or the original clio ones?...what a mission haha

as i said, there's a 3 digit suffix to the jb3 code, so if you have the original box or know the suffix of it, you should try finding one of those or one with similar ratios..
you should be able to fit your existing mounts to any of those boxes.
some boxes have an electronic speedo drive in them (from Super 5 GTT, e.g.), but this can be exchanged for the cable one if need be..
