preRS Clio Clio 1.2 TCE battery drain and hazards on

New month, new Renault electrical issue...
Daughters Clio MK3 on an 08 , battery discharging in 24 hours or so, she lives an hour and 20 away , so sometimes I have to diagnose over the phone, local garage just took 180 squid off her for one broken spring so I I've fetched the car over here when it started this fault.
She had left it sat for a few days waiting to get in for spring, tried to start it and it's flat as a witches tit, she borrowed a charger which showed the battery down to 8.7v , hazards were flashing before this, at first I thought alarm was going off due to low voltage, but when she's pulled onto drive yesterday they were going off uncontrollably, not responsive to switch, only way I could stop them was turning headlights on and off
Battery voltage after the 40 mile drive was sat at 13.2 static, haven't checked charge rate as I've put it on charge whilst I had a Google search.
Few 197 Clio sport posts mention wiring in passenger footwell and/ or UCH/BCM getting wet, quick feel of underfelt behind glovebox tells me it's wet, hoping for connector fault, but time will tell, this afternoon's job is getting passengers carpet up and finding wiring .
Clean scuttle drains out as well, it's due MOT in a month so I'm gonna keep it here and go through it, was a one owner car with 50k on it when I bought it 18 months ago, I didn't go crazy on it as it was her first car , but she's grown attached to it, overdue timing belt and high clutch will need doing if it's staying.
Quite like this little engine though, pulls well for 100 burps, might fit in an R8.....150 possibly??

check out all the connections, i bet theres plenty that are furred up like that. worst case id say its crept into the uch so maybe check that out too

Yes, complete centre block is kerfuckened, different colours either side to boot, only viable option is to cut and splice one at a time , but it's drizzling now, so think I'll photo both plugs and mark orientation, as one red has come away entirely, if any more break free I'm in a world of pain, need some dry weather to get door wide open and not have rain down the crack of my arse

the crack of my arse 🍑
Can’t help unfortunately but I’d say you’re on the right track.

My Clio has lost washer jets and stereo, not sure what else after being sat up for awhile. I’ve checked fuses etc and all fine, no idea what to loook at next, what is that block you’ve pictured and where is it? Might be a similar problem ☹️

Passenger side foot well, trim off , pull carpet up at the side of the door, sat in a nice well for greeny goodness.
Big white connection, with the locking crank bar on it, doesn't come apart easily.
Stopped raining so I'm machine labelling all the wires both sides, get a cut from a scrapper tomorrow, then splices the middle corroded block straight, dialectic grease on rest of connection.
There's mention of some in scuttle as well, I'm going to go through all I can find.

Few hours of my life I won't get back, got a connector cut from scrappers in case for a fiver, but didn't use much of it, only had to piece a red out six inches, rest I just straight spliced, tagged and mapped it out yesterday, glad I did as a few fell apart.

Don't feel brave enough to plug it back together yet, back is killing me....

Had battery on charge for 24hours on optimate, left it another 24, reading 13.05v, so I reckon it's good, I'll drop test it anyway.
Connected footwell wiring, well what's left on connector, battery back on, all back to normal, all working, charging at 14.4v load or no load.
Gonna let it sit while weekend and check battery voltage and whether it's a happy starter.
If we're good I'll clean scuttle out and get footwell stripped out and dry, fingers crossed.

Left Clio sat for 5 days, meter check shows 12.6v, I should check for a drain really, put meter in series, but I'm not sure how to get modern stuff like this 'asleep' so I'll just see how it goes
but I'm pretty confident we're golden.
We'll call that fixed.
Service and good nose to tail check, whack a test on it.

Clear PVC pipes from sunroof had shrunk, pulled out of rubber pipes that exit under arch liner, not much room to get in to extend them, so I've cleaned rubber extensions out ( both fronts blocked) and removed the traps off the ends, they were long enough to exit the car if I pulled them to meet the shrunk PVC sunroof pipes and then extended them out with some new pipe pushed in, silicone round where there would have had a square section to seal in the inner arch.
Stripped foam out of passenger footwell and rammed some old towels under bulkhead insulation.
If you've got a Clio with a sunroof, check these drains, could end up costly.
