I'd appreciate any advice on a problem that has me stumped!
Car is a 51-plate 1.2 16v Clio (D4F engine).
On Saturday afternoon the toxic fume warning light came on. After about a minute's slow driving it went out again and stayed out, after which the car was fine, with no apparent issues.
On Monday morning it wouldn't start - engines turns over strongly but doesn't fire. The toxic fume light comes on and stays on, but no other warning lights.
4 years ago the car had the common 'toxic fume/electrical fault' lights on due to oil build-up in the air intake system, so in case this had happened again this was stripped and all cleaned. Still wouldn't start and the toxic fume light is still permanently on.
It has fresh fuel in the tank and there is fuel pressure. There was apparently no spark, so the coil/leads were changed for new assembly. There is still no spark with the new leads.
My OBD reader shows no error codes.
Any thoughts on what else I could try? I'm starting to think it could be the ECU that's failed as I can't fathom anything else that would give rise to a lack of spark and the single warning light, which otherwise don't seem connected.
