Climate Control

HI Guys,

Does anyone know on which fuse the air blowers for the Climate Control are?

Is the climate control "head" and the blowers all on one, or separated?

Reason : climate control is "on", but no air from any of the vents. Only noticed this morning when I couldn't clear the windscreen!!

Ben

Ben, try a search on cliosport with 'heater resistor'. Had both the vee and 182 go on me, sounds the same problem control unit on and no blower. I'll post some links when I get back on PC.

Cheers Phil,

Yeh I found those cliosport posts, but can't find a definitive guide on where the hell the resistor pack is located!!

I "think" it's under the scuttle panel, is that right? If so, do you remember how to get access?

Ben

Hi Ben, yep under drivers side scuttle panel. Just remove 'screw clip' off wing side and rubber seal along the top then release the clips along top edge and it pulls off. The resistor is sat were the two scuttle panels join held in with two 6 or 8mm bolts and a connector block. I've got some contact details of a guy who refurbished mine for £40 or £100ish from dealers!!!!

The screw clip is not a screw its a push in item, lift it up the middle and it makes the outter part of the fitting smaller so you can pull it out, if its like mine, sometimes there a bugger to get out.

Steve

So the middle bit just pulls up, it shouldn't be unscrewed?

Begs the question, why the flat-head screw slot in the top??

LOL, how weird!

OK guys, thanks for all your help. Will give it a shot tomorrow.

Have found some guides online about how to replace the MOSFET and have an ex-Navy electrical engineer who can lend me a hand, so might give it a go myself.

Will post a guide if so as seems to be quite a common problem!

Ben

FIXED IT!!!

£8 MOSFET component (inc. next day delivery) from Maplins and about 10 mins with a soldering iron.

Certainly beats £120 ish for a new resistor pack from Renault, or even the £40 the refurb guys charge.

Can post a step by step guide if anyone's interested?

Ben

Come on Ben let us know how it's done 
Opened the resistor myself and then thought, no thanks!!!!! Covered in all that sealant and what I could see wouldn't know were to start. So I was happy to pay £40 to get it sorted. Intrigued to know how's it done 

Didn't have a camera when i did the work, but i'll pull it back apart and point out the relevant component etc.

Hardest thing was the bloody great heatsink sucked all the heat out of the solder/iron when trying to de-solder the old part!!!

Great write up Ben :approve:
Will have a go next time if I need to :salut:
What type of MOSFET transistor do we need? Any part numbers etc.
