Cleaning the Alloy's

Has anybody got any good tips for cleaning the Alloy Wheels on the Vee? Whenever I'm washing mine (most weekends) I spend about 15 minutes doing the chassis and about an hour doing the wheels because of the amount of bloody spokes. Is there an easier way to clean them that anyone knows of or is it me being too anal???

I have a small length of plastic pipe with a wooly thick sock over it. I can get in between each spoke that way. Also use megs wheel cleaner.

I've seen Matt's sock technique and although he looks like a right weirdo doing it, it seems to work well

Yeah royal pain to keep clean.

Meguiars microfibre wash mitt and soapy water.

One of my annual tasks is removing all 4 wheels, deep cleaning them, the arches and the coilovers.

Meguiars hot rims with electric toothbrush much quicker than cloth method and chemical boys wheel wax sealant after

Polish and seal your wheels..
Cleaning; Meg's Hot Rims if really dirty, but do not leave it on for long. If moderate grim just car shampoo. Long fully bristled brush so I can get to the inside rim edge through the spokes. Woollen mit, then micro fibre cloth. Rinse and dry with micro fibre cloth. Lovely biscuits.. [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Finished off with autogym super resin polish which seems to help keep break dust at bay! Job's a good'un

They should be easy to find round where I live!!!

Thanks for all the advice lads. I suspect I need a bigger cleaning cupboard.

I do think Matt's idea about using a sock is inventive to say the least. However, I fear if my misses found one slightly damp sock hanging around she might think I've been white water wristing...

You've gotta be kidding Ray..! LOL Admittedly, you have the most sympathetic colour to not show swirls and scratches. My 172 is the same colour :approve:

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't take your Vee to similar folk for servicing and general maintenance and leave them to choose and supply all the service items. ;)

Some of us here are a bit OCD with the cars paint work.. others are OCD with performance gains eh.. 'viv la difference'! :salut:
