21 Turbo Chassis number

Hi all. I have this Quadra for almost a year whilst the previous owner tried to locate the logbook with no joy. I’m now having to apply myself but the chassis number on the drivers side suspension turret is unreadable. Is there another location on the car for me to retrieve the chassis number? Or another method?

Its stamped in the turret, or on the big rectngular plate indicated below.

I've made some enquiries and this reg does not seem to exist, its not coming up on any of the parts sites, the MOT register and my MOT tester can't find it either. This is very unusual, even my 1986 Renault 9 shows up on the databases and that hasn't been MOT'd since 2005.

Are you sure thats its correct reg plate? Although, I dont suppose you'd know... especially with a missing VIN.

Even on the Renault systems that reg does not appear, but that is not unusual as it is pre 98 or it changed reg since original registration.
Is there any documentation ie service books or old Mot documents that may give a clue to any reg changes?

There’s a 2001 tax disc in the window

No history paperwork whatsoever. It was sat in a field in a rather large collection for quite some time

Yes the plate is still behind the air box. How should the chassis number read? As there’s no continuous number on the plate it’s split into small sections?
It starts VF1L485, and its 17 digits, so VF1L485xxxxxxxxxx - put a picture of the plate up and if it matches what Brigsy has put above then you should be good.

VF1 means "Renault" and L485 is the code for 21 Turbo, L = 4-door sedan, 4 = R21 and then the 85 is model specific.

The chassis number that Brigsy came up with has reg of G282 BLX, which has an out standing recall, and on Gov.uk to contact DVLA regarding MOT.
I did wonder if correct as it usually brings up loads more data and has another line underneath saying verified vin number. Interestingly G282BLX not found on same system.
