CD player Question

I know this is probably really obvious... but how do i put CD's into the CD stacker. I tried it for the first time this morning and couldnt get the stack out under the seat. Engine was on, so i opened the front of it and pressed the green eject button - but nothing happens.

Am i missing something realy obvious - sorry for the thick question.

Also while I'm being thick - what do the R/O buttons do on the steering wheel? The manual doesn't say, and i'm stumped if i can work it out - is it CD skip by any chance?

Thanks

You did it good, when you press the green button the cd stack must come out,
Does the cd changer work? Can you here the cd's changed?
If not, check the connector at the back.

Sounds like your CD cassette is not actually there otherwise it should pop out when you press the button.

Cruise Control buttons R and O

Manual says R is Return to stored limit.
O is Switching the function off.

CD skip is done via the buttons behind the wiper control stalk. Refer to Radio manual.

yeah still a problem - i think it might be related to a previous owner fitting an ipod connector into the car. I think he must have bypassed the CD player.

The cables are fitted into the back ok, though i do remember the previous owner taking out the CD stack to check he hadn't left any CD's in it when i bought it. I might have to give him a call and see if there's anything I'm messing up...

Sounds stupid but check the door of the changer is fully open.

Might have a safety switch? [smilie=doubt.gif]

Yeah it's fully open. Alas the guy i bought it from doesn't seem to want to talk to me. Balls. So, do i take it to Renault, RSTuning (just around the corner from me) of Halfords (my cousin in law works there so would take good care)?

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the way they fitted the ipod connector. hmmmm thinking sideways... maybe it'd be cheaper to buy a proper ipod and run that instead.

Is the CD changer cassette correctly loaded?

If he ejected it to check it was empty it MUST have been powered up etc so can't be the connectivity unless something else has changed since....

Maybe the changer cassette is not quite fitted correctly? Push / wiggle it. If its not all the way in maybe it doesn't eject?

Otherwise check power with multimeter on cables etc.

CD's are old fashioned and rubbish. I say ditch the multichanger and buy an ipod then you have more than 5 CD's worth of music and none of the ball ache associated with having to change the cartridge every five minutes..... :approve:

I changed my head unit to an ipod compatible kenwood. Unfortunately it won't run a CD multichanger as well (most don't i believe). Once you have an ipod connected there just seems no need for the CD unit. The Kenwood units use similar menu systems to navigate the ipod so its easy to find all the tracks you want. If there is a problem with the multichanger, and you want to replace it, you could have mine off me FOC, but tbh once you go ipod, i doubt you'll be bothered.

Thanks, that very kind of you Miguel :)

I think the previous owner has just bypassed the CD unit - so i think i'll just run with the ipod, thanks though for the offer.

So, can anyone recommend a good ipod holder? Where is a good place to fit them in the car? In the cigarette lighter area? by the steering wheel? Anyone got pics?
