In all your respect, if you know what your doing with these cars, its much much easier to take the engine out. The loom is a piece of cake to disconnect, the engine is held in by about half dozen nuts and bolts, so too the suspension and subframe. Took Ben no time what so ever to put the engine back in. Is a good chance to easily change the clutch and fluids too. Sure beats struggling and grazing your knuckles I suppose.
I recall clarkie's pictorial thread of cambelt change and he said it was a right pain in the arse in situ. It was a few months ago though  viewpost.php?p=3568&f=3
i do cambelts and waterpumps with the engine in place, i prefer doing it this way so you dont mess up the wheel geometrie. i know its not to diffficult to take out an engine but thats just the way i do them.

ill have a look in the technical documentation on work tomorrow as i am not 100% sure but normaly as per renaults standards if you take any of that off or touch any of those bolts then you have to..
Ben at Angelworks has done many of these now with the engine out each time and as mine goes, did not affect the geometry. The car handles exactly the same as it did before and the geometry was set up a few months b4 the cambelt change. I think there are pros and cons on doing the change both ways. I suppose what works for you is good enough. Everyone has there own ways of doing things.
The engine out seemed easy enough...with the right tools etc.
