Hi

How come only £350, see below

that's the price when the engines out of the car, saved about £400 as I have to had to buy my own oil and filters, antifreeze, plugs etc and will need to get the air-con recharged which will be about £100 in total.

So if cash is tight get out the spanners !!!!

Still a good saving and I can now paint the engine bay to match the new paint colour as well.

Think he has only had the belt changed mate?

But still have to agree OE parts at that price?

The reason it is so cheap is because Ben has a price structure set up with the supplier as he does such a large volume.

Steve had the full cambelt kit changed and the aux belt (not kit) and water pump. Labour costs were obviously low as the engine was already out the car.

i had mine done about 4 moths ago,it was done at my local subaru dealer for 350 ,they done it in the car.tony

Lucy's right on parts changed all OE aftermarket parts used not Renault branded but made by the same people.

Bens a nice guy to spend a couple of hours chatting too.

He also says he has a brake disc kit coming out at about £350 front and rear and will give a slightly wider track as well, I hope he lets us know when its ready.

He also builds race engines inc V6 ones, he a head tuning specialist, I think he booked to build a really wild one for one of the forum members.

Yes i was well happy with the work and will return if needs be.

Sorry for jumping in Steve - Ben doesn't have internet access at the moment so I was posting on his behalf!

We will definately keep people posted on the brake set up. Unfortunately it was been delayed a bit recently.
The machine shop has my disks to copy but as it is an order of just one set for now we kept getting pushed back. They are a large shop and had bigger productions runs going on which they couldn't interupt.
However the good news is they are done now [smilie=icon_cheers.gif] ....but Ben was out when they tried to deliver them so they took them back to the depot! They were due to be re-delivered either today or tomorrow.
Ben has been really busy the last few weeks but hopefully he will get a chance to fit and check them soon! As soon as he gives me the all clear they are good to go i'll let you know!

I am interested in this. I missed out on the forum group buy cos of insurance and cambelt change etc coming at the same time. Having seen Ben again today and to see him briefly in action was great. He even gave some advice which I am most appreciative of. And yes he did my cambelt change and the full works I wanted done at a great price.

I am not a agent, but I think its about £850 all in, he takes the engine out to do the belts, which I think is a good idea as you can give the engine a good visual check as well.

Telephone: Workshop: 01480 860959 (not working, no BT line as he has moved to next door unit) was the case last week

Mobile: 07816 518198 that's working OK

Email: [email protected], not sure if that's working due to phone line

Hi Al,
Steve is correct it is £850 all in.
Ben only does the cambelt change with the engine out as it is quicker and easier for him to access everything.

The best way to contact him at the moment is on the mobile number above.
The landline and e-mail are down at the mo because BT are dragging there heels with swapping the line over between the units.

You can still drop him an e-mail if you prefer though as he is able to check his e-mails at the weekends when he is at mine.
(In case that sounds strange - He's my boyfriend ;) )

Hi Al. A few weeks ago Ben did my cambelt change, the full works etc for 850 (inc vat) plus a service for another 150 (ex vat) and was easily the best price around. I had a few issues with my vee (air con problem) , new fronts required (the tyres were shot on the inside edge which cant see unless you take the wheels off) , MOT, plus surprise surprise a Renault ILFORD cock-up to fix and Ben did a very thorough job throughout and kept me informed all the way. Speak to him about an engine-in job cambelt change but he said to me its not easy (not impossible Ben is an expert!) to do cos you havent got much space to work in. As Steve said I would rather have the engine out and the job done properly and check for any other engine issues. Al call him, Ben is a really nice guy and you can discuss your options (I guess you wanna save as much as you can on the cambelt change).
