Engine Number - Renault 5 GT Turbo Phase 1
The Renault 5 GT Turbo used the “C-Type” engine block known as the “Cleon 1.4”. This engine was widely used over a range of Renault vehicles, however, the R5 GT Turbo used blocks with specific numbers on the engine. The numbers to look for are as follows:

• C1J 782
• C1J 784
• C1J 788 (Phase 2 only - commonly installed as replacement engines in Phase 1)

Location of engine number:
As you face the engine block from the front of the car, the engine number is located on the front top left face of the engine...

I knew I would be handy with info one day ...

There are two different hose kits one for phase 1 and one for phase 2. If c1j782 and c1j788 is the same, why is that?

The hose plumbing and cooling setup is different ph1 to ph2. Plus a few other things.

I found that before but thank you for your time. Can you tell me those differences and that few other things, when you have time

You can find this data if you look at the parts lookup. Its kinda hard work mind so here we are :

Phase 1 pre build number 8705

R5 New, C405, Manual, 19 Cooling system - Reservoirs - Exhaust system - Engine mounting / Radiator hoses - Catcar.info

8706 onwards ( phase 2 )

R5 New, C405, Manual, 19 Cooling system - Reservoirs - Exhaust system - Engine mounting / Radiator hoses - Catcar.info

Renix changed from a 209c to a 209d as well IIRC

Ph1 was RE208.
