buying complete exhaust system?

am i going to see some problems when i go fitting a complete exhaust system without the cats from k-tec? Just want to know if the emission light is going on etc..

as far as i know..it comes on with even sports cats..so de-cat will almost certainly bring the light on, just get the bulb taken out

Think there L.E.Ds colin  Well they are on the MK2 anyway.

Nothing that cant be solved with some tape,or just put up with it

and isn't it bad for the engine or so when the lights come on. Stupid question i know. . But just want to be certain. I don't want to wreck my engine because it is suddenly going to inject more fuel or so. I had this problem with one of my 205 gti's.(long story) But after all, with the decatted pipe it drove like sh*t. But it was a peugeot. :P

my mate has a type R with a decat and his light is on all the time

the only downside i can see is that if something is really wrong, making the light come on...you wont know cause its always on

GDI told me they have some sort of wee gadget to trick the light into staying off. One of these days they might get around to fitting it. Turning the light off with Clip only lasts for about 100 miles.

the CAT light, or emissions light only tells you the cats are not working.... (as per std ones at least)

so most people ignore it.

they need about 0.410 volts to keep the ecu happy, but this fluctuates..

we have a prototype gadget thats not managed to be tested yet....

About 6yrd! Mines on, on my 172. I've got a clip at the garage, turns it off but comes straight bak on...I don't even notice it any more.

My emissions light is on as i have decat pipes on.

Don't really notice it anymore. Going to put the sports cats and manifolds on when the weather warms up a bit.

.....So it could be a while then

But hopefully not to long.

:D

steve, i really fancy de cats but noit sure what to do come mot time as the light will be on and the emissions i imagine will be too high
do you change your cats for MOT or get "mi mate Dave" to test it?

you would not really wanting to be taking cats on and off a V...

however there are lots of places...... like dave!

I dont any 'my mate Dave's' so i swap the cats back myself. Takes about half a day on the driveway. Prob a lot shorter on a car lift.

However this will be the lats time as i was want the manifolds and sports cats.

would the janspeed manifold system aloow me to fit them to my replacemnt back box? I assume they will as my surrent back box lines up to std manifolds

pops.... certainly..

a decent rise in BHP.... we have noted from some customers upto 15bhp from manifolds and system on the mk2.... its very noticable....

superb sound as well..... really lovely burble and sounds like a banshee on full throttle... from outside the car.....
