Brakes worry

Hi guys,

Just a quick question about my Carbon Lorraine pads. Was driving earlier today and if I brake hard, the brakes stop brilliantly, but if I brake hard when going 30ish, they make a bit of a scraping feel that I can feel through the pedal. Is this something I should be worried about or is this normal?

Also, how long do pads last? (assuming reasonable wear)

Cheers!
Phil.

Possible that when they are cold the matirial of the pad is harder. Not sure just a guess.

Have a look at the disc surface and if it looks smooth then more than likely the pads. Im going with just normal mintex pads when i need some. The carbon pads can wear the expensize discs quickly, so i have being informed.

As for how long they will last. Never had them pads so not sure, normal ones if driven normal ish prob looking at. 12,000 - 18,000 miles. But all drivers are diffrent, some may be knackerd at 8,000 miles.

One other thought is loose caliper. bearking hard with a loose one may feel normal because the force of rotation will pull it down, at 30 however it may have chance to move slighty. All guess's, have not seen the car or driven so its hard to know. If unsure get it to a garage mate. :s

My pads are getting low and I've been finding recently that if I've been on the motorway they cool down right down and then grind/whine when I come off onto the slip road. I image where there's less material they hold the heat less well!?
