The ren family have the nice advantage of sharing hubs and braking systems across models.

Got a 1.4 19 or 1.2 clio? Then you will have 238mm solid brake discs.

Some don't like this due to performance or in most cases they don't like how puny discs look behind the wheels.

What to do? 4 pots and massive discs? Thats an option, in my opinion and expensive and not worth it option.

The new renaults like 182's etc use 280mm discs and some like the lagunas are now over 300mm.

A direct fit upgrade from a better/later model is the key.

The pictures in this guide are of an upgrade from 238 mm (RSI spec) vented to 259 mm (16V) discs. The same procedure is used for upgrading from solids to 16V vented.

What do you need?

Well if you have Bendix front calipers you need the calipers, discs, pads, carriers and carrier bolts from the donor vehicle or new.

If you have 238mm solid Girling/Lucas gear then you need the discs, calipers and carriers.

If you have RSI set up like this car does then to go to 259's you need the discs and carriers only.

Anyway these pictures are of the Mrs Megane, its a 1.6 ph1 8v hatch which runs the RSi set up as standard.

You need to get the calipers and discs off, the calipers and carriers combined are bolted to the hub with 18mm bolts. The disc to the hub by either 2 T30 or 2 T40 screws.

fitted, note the discs are a state but they were replaced with solids after it was driven about on old pads to clean those discs up for me.

nice snug fit in the carrier, the 238mm soild discs are 12mm thick opposed to 22mm so the carrier of a solid 238 will not fit an RSi disc!

looks are improved as is the braking performace. Its a quick easy swap and very effective.

if you have an rsi and want 16v brakes its a half hour job, longer if its a 1.4 solid girling disc setup or bendix as more is needed like bleeding the brakes.
