Brake disc run out

Cold fusion

New Member
Hi people of Vee,
Had my beloved Vee put through its first MOT last Saturday, it failed on something called "severe brake disc run out"
whatever that is. Renault dealer told me that the discs are not covered by the warranty only the calipers. My brother (who knows absolutly nothing about cars,he drives a TVR) said that it was usual that a fault on the caliper caused run out on the disc. Then if that is the case should Renault not replace the calipers and discs and pads on the warranty?

Funny, you say your brother knows absolutely nothing about cars, (shows since he drives a TVR) but you do take his expert statement on this one because it suits you ?? [smilie=icon_clown.gif] [smilie=icon_clown.gif]

Brake disks how funny it might be, is a feature like an airfilter or brakepads. They only are covered by warranty due to manufacturing errors.
The disc run out can be caused by several things, one of them being driving with the foot on the brakes, or callipers which haven't had proper maintenance and cause a pad to stick slightly on the disk.
